Now, you can always find an ink jet printer cheaper but you will be replacing the ink  A LOT more than you will the toner on a laser printer. The toner replacement cartridges for this model should be able to print 2600 pages! That's wayyyy more than I get from my Espon that has $19 ink cartridges. Wish I would have went with a laser printer when I purchased ours last year :(
