What's for dinner 10-26 & 10-27

On Wednesday we had cheese manicotti. No pictures since we have made it previously this month.

Tonight we had steak (fillet & rib eye), rolls & jambalaya. The jambalaya was spicy, so our kids had broccoli & cheese instead. Our daughter wanted a picture of her plate too, so you get to see her mess;)

I went shopping at GE earlier in the day, so I just used items we purchased then.

What's for dinner 10/25 - Salad :)

Sorry for the crappy picture. I meant to take a picture before we dished it out into bowls and put ranch on it but I forgot...

We had some lettuce & a whole carton of eggs that were going to expire on 10/26, so we decided to use them to just make a salad for dinner. We didn't have any veggies to add and didn't want to run to the store, so it's very basic. Our 1 year old isn't the biggest fan of salad yet, so he had pears and scrambled eggs. I also made some dinner rolls.

Ingredients we had for the salad:
Lettuce
Salad dressing
Eggs
Cheese
a few seasonings for a little added flavor
dinner rolls

We didn't have croutons at home so my husband picked up a small bag at his work before leaving. I believe they cost $.78

What's for dinner 10/22 - 10/24

On Saturday we had Long John Silvers for dinner. Totally went against my not eating out plan, but we went to the Hocking Valley Scenic Railroad Halloween train ride so we had to pick up something on the way.

On Sunday we had Chicken Tacos..something I have previously posted about so I didn't take a picture or anything :) I had to purchase chicken and Cilantro, so my total cost for dinner was around $3.00

Tonight we made pizza and bread sticks.  I had to purchase everything to make it. (pizza isn't cooked yet in the pic;))

GE bread sticks $2.50
GE shredded cheese $2.99
Prego pizza sauce $1.69
GE all natural pepperoni $2.19
2 Pack Mama Mias (i think) pizza crust $4.69 - $.55 peelie on product = $3.59

Yesterday was my husbands birthday!! I had planned to make him a fancy salad (it's what our daughter wanted to make him a salad for his birthday) but he didn't get home until around 6:30 and I still needed to run out and get him 1 more gift. So, we had Chipotle instead. He had a veggie bowl with everything, the kids had a cheese quesadilla & I had soft chicken tacos.

What's for dinner? 10/1 - stuffed pasta shells

I've decided that I am going to try to do a daily post "What's for dinner" for the month of October. I am going to share what we had for dinner & how much it cost us out of pocket to make it. Included in my out of pocket will be anything we had to purchase to make it that WAS NOT already in our kitchen. I am going to kinda use this for myself, to see how cheap (or expensive) it is to make dinner :) Growing up, I lived pretty much off of packaged foods; so that is what I am used to. My mom would actually make dinner on Sundays, but other than that, she was working & I was left to make quick meals for myself. It's still 10x easier for me to make something prepackaged, but I am trying to get better because we have 2 kids now & they need a balanced dinner each day. My husband is the cook in the family so when he is home in the evenings we almost always make something from scratch.

I'll try to remember to take a picture each day.

Last night we had stuffed pasta shells, rolls & salad (no picture)

I had to purchase:
Salad $.69
Rolls $.99
Onion $.71
Organic red pepper $2.30
Tomato $.73
Ricotta cheese $2.49

We already had:
Salad dressing/vinegar
Shells
shredded Cheese
Parmesan cheese
pasta sauce
oregano
garlic
eggs
salt & pepper

OOP: $7.91

You'll notice bread or rolls with almost every meal. I LOVE bread & dinner doesn't feel complete without it. My kids and husband aren't as big of fans and could probably do without lol.
